How to Use the Vye Form Editor
The Vye Form Editor allows you to create and customize forms to capture subscriber data efficiently. This article will guide you through the process of using the form editor to create and configure forms for your store.
Step-by-Step Guide:
1. Access the Form Editor
- Navigate to the Vye app in your Shopify Admin.
- From the app’s dashboard, go to the Forms section.
- Click on the Create Form button to open the form editor.
2. Understanding the Form Editor Layout
- The form editor consists of four main sections:
- Form Preview Area: This shows a live preview of the form as configured. You can already see how the form will appear to customers.
- Configuration Area: This is where you can add, remove, and reorder form fields. You can also configure the options for each field.
- Form Settings Area: This section allows you to adjust settings that affect the entire form, such as form name and submission behavior.
- Popup Form Area: This section allows you to convert the form into a popup that is revealed by a button click.
3. Configuring Form Fields
Vye offers a variety of field types to capture different kinds of subscriber information. Available field types include:
- Heading: Display text headers to organize your form sections
- Text: Add descriptive text and instructions
- Email: Capture subscriber email addresses (required)
- Phone Number: Collect phone numbers for SMS notifications
- Product Tags: Let subscribers choose product categories or tags they're interested in
- Collections: Allow subscribers to select collections to follow
- Search Keywords: Enable subscribers to enter custom keywords for product matching
- Vendor: Let subscribers choose specific brands or vendors
- Product Type: Allow subscribers to select product types
- Product Options: Capture preferences for product variants
- Custom Metafield: Use product metafield values as selection options
- Notification Frequency: Let subscribers choose how often they receive updates
- Consent Checkbox: Add GDPR-compliant consent checkboxes
Managing Form Fields
- Under the Form Fields section, you can rearrange the fields by dragging their handles to change the order.
- To add new fields, click on the Add Field button and choose the type of field you want to add (e.g., text field, email field, checkbox).
- Click on each field to display its configurable options in the Configure Fields section.
- In the Configure Fields area, you can customize each field’s label, placeholder text, validation rules, and other settings.
- To remove a field, click the Delete Field button under the field’s settings in the Configure Fields area.
Auto-Sync Feature
For certain field types (Product Tags, Collections, Vendor, and Product Type), you can enable the Auto-Sync feature. When enabled:
- The field options will automatically sync with your Shopify store data
- New tags, collections, vendors, or product types added to your store will automatically appear on the form
- Manual option entry is disabled when auto-sync is active
- Options are automatically refreshed in the background to ensure they stay up-to-date
- You can exclude specific options from auto-sync by entering them in the 'Exclude tags from auto-sync' field
Field Sorting Options
For select-type fields (Tags, Collections, Vendor, Product Type, Options, Custom Metafield), you can configure sorting:
- None: Options appear in the order they were added
- Ascending: Options are sorted alphabetically A-Z
- Descending: Options are sorted alphabetically Z-A
4. Configuring Form Settings
- In the Form Settings section, you can configure global settings that affect the entire form, such as the form’s name, submission behavior, and success messages.
5. Saving the Form
- When you’re finished customizing the form, go to the Form Settings section and give your form a name.
- Click the Save button to save the form.
6. Converting the Form to a Popup
- To convert the form to a popup that is shown when a button is clicked, go to the Popup Form section, enable the checkbox and configure the button.
